As our world become even more interconnected and interdependent, proficiency in languages, in addition to our native language, has become a cornerstone of most developed countries’ national educational goals. Language learning in early grades has transformed from target language as a subject to learning different subjects through the use of the target language. The existing models of second language acquisition as a foreign language subject has progressed into dual language schools where the young students are immersed in the studying of various academic subjects using both native and target languages.
Based on the successful models in various parts of the world, Er Xin’s dual language program attempts to increase our students‘ English language proficiency and academic ability through a full integration of English language use in Science, Language Arts, Visual and Performing Arts, and Social Studies.
At the core of the Er Xin’s dual language program, research, time management, and independent learning skills will constitute the major points of our curriculum. We attempt to foster the sense of innovation and continue to allow our students “to be curious” through hands-on activities, experiential learning modules, and research based assignments.
