- Create a flexible elementary interdisciplinary program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth (respectful, safe, creative, and invigorating classroom)
- Establish effective rapport with students
- Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for Science, Social Studies or Visual Arts education in accordance with each student’s ability
- Evaluate student work, both formative and summative assessments, benchmarks and other assessments to guide instructional planning and promote student success
- Utilize best instructional practices, methods, materials and technology
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other teachers throughout all grade levels on campus to strengthen community and student experience
- Establish good relationships with parents and other staff members
Experience and Qualifications
- Knowledge of instruction that emphasizes problem-solving and critical thinking
- Effective and respectful management of classroom culture
- A comprehensive understanding of the application of best practices, inquiry based instruction, backwards design, and formative/summative assessment
- Enthusiasm and commitment to the vision, mission and guiding principles of the school
- Sense of humor and commitment, high ethical professional standards, equity perspective
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated collegiality
- Technologically literate and comfortable with acquiring new technology skills
- Excellent organization, time management and follow-through skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
Education and Additional Requirements
- A bachelor's degree from a recognized university/college by Taiwan's Ministry of Education is required
- A government/state issued teaching license or certificate is required for work permit and residency in Taiwan
- A science, humanities, or arts education background and teaching experience are preferred
- A strong interest in teaching and learning and a developmental understanding of elementary school students are essential qualities sought
