Grade 1 In Grade 1, we did a mural project. The students experienced how artists paint on directly on walls using paintbrushes. I pasted large pieces of drawing paper to the walls to let them paint on it. In each group, they started with black line shapes including geometric and organic shapes. The shapes could not touch, and when the paper was full, they connected the shapes with lines. After that, they painted the shapes with colour. In the new project, we talked about a portrait which is a person’s face and shoulders in art. The students have been learning the ways to draw different facial expressions in class. In the end, they’ll create a family portrait as a present for Mother’s Day. Grade 2 In the second grade, they finished the aluminium foil project. They designed their own patterns and drew them on the shiny aluminium foil. They got started on making paper quilling flowers. They had to figure out what “quilling” is and how to make different basic quilling shapes first. After they know the steps of making flowers, they will start to make their own flowers for their moms. Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6 In our 3rd grade class we studied natural still life; students did drawings of watermelons and pineapples and painted them. In 4th grade we studied the artist Henri Rousseau, students created jungle scenes in the style of this artist. In the 5th grade we studied the mathematical and impossible art of M.C Escher - students learned how to draw the impossible triangle, also known as the Penrose triangle. In 6th grade we learned about abstraction, students created abstract tree drawings, trees made from a variety of geometrical shapes. Colors Galore評論已關閉。
