This week the first graders learnt about hygiene and healthy habits. The children had a chance to talk about what their daily healthy habit was and why it is important. They also learnt some new phonics sounds. In addition, they were introduced to some new vocabulary to go with the phonics. With the second graders we continued with “Changes”. We were able to complete the first unit and the children finally put all they had learnt together in our writing workshop. They had to write about their friend and talk about their classroom using our “Write and Draw” activity sheet. Watch one student's recording on their writing here. In third and fourth grade, we had vocabulary quizzes. On the other hand, in order to improve student's speaking skills, we also focused more on individual read aloud, questions and answers practice, phonics practice etc. Watch two grade 3 students do a dialogue here. Students are asked to read their readings to their parents and share the stories with them. This can be a good chance for parents to spend some quality time with their children and know how well they're progressing, too. The fifth and sixth graders have started working on some essays and are learning the importance of writing well to become better writers. We have been reading a lot from their textbooks and assessing them through their workbooks. Most of them are very comfortable now. The sixth graders were also able to make dialogue videos for their class assignment which was a fun experience to watch. You can watch one here. Overall, the students have done well thus far and we hope to continue on with this momentum. Best, Teacher Paddy and Christina 評論已關閉。
