Grade 1 and 2 The First Graders had learned Unit 3: Making Toys and vocabulary of crafts. The students spent quality time reading aloud with their parents after school. And of course, last week was Christmas! We sang and danced. Everyone had a wonderful time. The Second Graders were introduced to a new reading- Bud and His Dad. We did a play in class. The students had fun and made efforts putting the sentences into practice. Great job! Grade 3 This week we started learning about some of the different things people like in Unit 3. Children had to talk about the things they like including hobbies, favorite foods, movies, and class subjects. It was fun to hear some of the similarities and differences with each student that spoke. Antonyms and synonyms were also a talking point for the week and we got the chance to practice throughout the lessons. Children also learned how to use pronouns and below are some of their writings. Grade 4 For this week, children got the chance to learn about facts and opinions from the previous reading. They were tasked with picking out which things were facts or opinions during a practice exercise. Most students were able to differentiate the two with no problem. We also began Unit 3 which is an introduction to animal habitats and environments. This topic made a great connection to their science class. Most students were able to use some of the knowledge learned in science to answer some questions asked about animals. Students also had the chance to make thier first journal entry using past tense. Grade 5 “Powerful Forces of Nature” was the topic for the week and we got a chance to go back into history. The reading for the unit was the story of Pompeii. Students learned about some of the devastating effects Mother Nature can have on us if we are unprepared. Since it is the first reading of the chapter, we are still introducing some basic vocabulary and reading about kids stories from around the world. Grade 6
Different people live in different houses and what may seem strange to you, is a home to someone else. These were some of the talking points for the week, “Where we live.” We read about the underground city of Australia and the different kinds of houses all over the world. We made reference to Taiwan and how housing is different compared to other parts of the world. 評論已關閉。
