Grade 1 This week we have been concluding the final chapter for this semester. We looked at different types of weather and how this influences the clothing choices we make. Furthermore we tied the weather into the seasons of the year and how certain types of weather are related to certain seasons. We wrapped up the chapter with how we use earth’s resources, highlighting what natural resources are and the products we produce from them. Grade 2 Following the finals we have wrapped up the third chapter. Our focus this week was our environment and what it has to offer in terms of resources and how we should go about caring for earth. We also covered the weather types and the choices we make in terms of the clothes we wear due to the weather. Furthermore we discussed and worked through the topic of getting from here to there by means of the words; transportation and communication. To conclude this week we took a look at post cards in relation to main ideas and details. Grade 3 We reviewed for the final exam. We also finished the landform project and the presentations. All of them were really creative. They worked so hard on this project. Grade 4 The grade 4 class has finished their social studies exam and I feel like they could learn a little bit more about other cultures around the world. I taught them a little bit about the Inca culture in South America and about their great engineering feat, Machu Picchu. We also went over the Greek mythologies which the students already had some knowledge because of their class names from last year. Grade 5 For the fifth graders, we had a short recap on the last topic of The Irish Potato Famine. We looked at how famines around the world are caused and how people are able to help those affected by it. The topic of borders was also introduced and we specifically looked at the United States border between the US and Mexico. This is to act as an introduction to next semester’s content. To put the discussion into context we watched a documentary called “Which Way Home” which follows young children going to vast lengths to cross the border in search of a better life. Grade 6 I started doing an introduction of religions with the grade 6. This lesson is more of an introduction of next semester but I feel like the students can use this time to learn more about the different cultures and religions of the world. We went over the 5 big religions of the world very briefly and learned where the religions originated from. In the next semester, we will go over about how these religions impact the world today and begin our lessons on different countries. 評論已關閉。
