For the past few weeks, the first graders have learned about people at school and some good habits to keep themselves healthy. They also learned numbers from 1 to 30. Most students read to their parents and practiced the vocabulary they've learned after class. They have made significant progress. The second graders learned a story about a dog named "Tip" who moved from a city to a country. He feels sad that he has to leave his old friend, but he also feels happy that he has some new pals. We practiced pronouns and be verbs in present tense. Most of the students did some reading and questions and answers with their parents after class. I'd like to see this become a daily parent-child quality time routine. More Reading and More Writing!Third Grade Thanksgiving was the theme of the week and we had fun making up a silly turkey story. Children were each given a chance to complete a story about a turkey that did not want to be dinner. They had to use their imagination to create a fun depiction of what happened to the turkey after. A lot of the children came up with some really interesting stories, like the one pictured below by Eudora. Fourth Grade The fourth graders also had chance to have some Thanksgiving fun by creating an advertisement. They had to pretend to be a turkey trying to convince the world why they shouldn’t be chosen to be the Thanksgiving turkey. It was a fun way for the children to tap into their creativity. We also learned about possessive pronouns and nouns in an effort to improve their daily language. Using correct grammar is a goal we are trying to reach and hopefully, we will achieve it in time. Fifth Grade The fifth grade students were learning how to read a selection and pick out important details. We utilized a details chart and everyone had to find important information relating to the text given. Afterwards, the students had to present their findings to the rest of the class. Sixth grade
Adverbs were the main talking point for the week. We discussed usage and differences between adverbs of frequency and intensity. Children had the chance to practice by answering questions about their daily life using adverbs. We also learned about cause and effect after reading a selection from our text book. More connections were made by using Taiwan as an example. It was topic that a lot of the students enjoyed and had a lot to say about their community. 評論已關閉。
