Grade 1 Moon and Sun are looking within and discovering what living and non-living things are. They have been learning about the importance of nutrients and habitats of living things such as plants, animals, and people. Here are a few of the kids outlining the anatomy of a flower where they learned that a flower’s roots are its mouth and, also, legs! Grade 2 Ontario and Huron have entered the magical world of life science. In it, they are learning to classify living things based on their characteristics such as habitat, color, size, feeding habits, and reproductive abilities. Each day, they are becoming more and more familiar with the life cycle of living things. Here is Nick demonstrating his understanding and imitation of an egg hatching. Grade 3 Students in grade 3 have been doing some research through www.kiddle.co about three animals from many different habitats. They took notes then put together a presentation on Google Slides. In this video, you can watch Neil’s presentation. We have also started on food chains, and students made one about grass, cricket, lizard, and hawk Grade 4 In grade 4, we have been learning about food chains and how producers, consumers, and decomposers pass the energy in ecosystems. Ocean, Rose, Nydia, and Michelle share their food chain in this video. Grade 5 Lochness and Lomond have taken experiments to a new level! They are learning all about the scientific method of asking questions and finding the answers. Discovering what it takes to get to the truth, the Er Xin scientists see the importance of the process as it unfolds. Here are several students with their own egg drop design experiment that helped guide them to a better understanding of how scientists operate. Grade 6
In grade 6, students have been putting together a Google Slides presentation with their groups on how people change the environment. There are groups talking about air pollution, land pollution, water pollution, logging, and people introducing nonnative species to ecosystems.
