It has been more than one month. We have all had a great time with students. Hopefully, the lessons brought the joy, the knowledge, and inspiration to the students’ life.
Grade 1 Last week, we introduced job occupations song for 1st grade. By humming a melody, students could remember the words in mind easily. We also did role-playing when discussing the leaders in our community. It seemed hospital and school role-playing fascinated kids the most. They enjoyed acting as doctors, nurses, and teachers very much. Grade 2 In the grade 2 classes, we have learned the difference between a map and a globe, directions, and parts of a map. We have created our own maps and wrote about where things such as Pokémon, the spider, the school and the park are. We are now learning about the 7 continents and 5 oceans. We’ve made our own world map puzzle; as well as, found all the names of the continents and oceans in a challenging word search! Great job, grade 2’s!! In Teacher Katie’s class This semester, we extend the story “Jack and Beanstalk” by fun science experience and math activities. Growing the seeds helps the student to develop an understanding of how plants grow by recording their observation and drawing. This week, we also created a mini market to learn using money wisely. In the lesson, the students should identify the grocery categories and organize items on their own and act as either shop owners or customers with proper manners. Grade 3 The Grade 3 students have been enjoying learning about various landforms in our world, such as archipelagos, canyons, plains, and valleys. They have made their own landforms book which turned out beautifully, and very colorful too (see photos). Also, students have studied their vocabulary by making their own word search and challenging a friend to find the answers. Finally, the landforms bingo game (where they wrote and drew their own pictures of each landform) was a lot of fun, with many students yelling “BINGO!” Grade 4 In the past few weeks, we have been talking about the geographical features in Taiwan. By drawing the picture or self-organized map on the communication book helped reinforce students’ memory of what they have learned in class. Also, in order to strengthen student’s concept of five different types of landforms in Taiwan, we tried to shape the landforms by using the pipe cleaners. ‘Learning by doing’ would always get the student involved easily. Grade 5 We have been learning about the first peoples’ migration to the Americas. How did they get there? Where did they come from? Why did they go there? What was the environment like over 10,000 years ago when they arrived in North America? What evidence have scientists found to support their theories? These are some of the questions we have been asking and answering in our grade 5 classes. Grade 6 There are many unique cultures and fun history about Egypt. Students were interested in learning Egyptian art, makeup, mummification process, and ancient objects in the Pyramids. We also demonstrated some online interactive activities in class. Hopefully, these resources would motivate students to review the lessons at home. 評論已關閉。
